A unique experience in the heart of nature around the North Baray, in ANGKOR the World Heritage site.
BARAY REACH DAK COMMUNITY TOURS is a community social enterprise established in 2013 by the APSARA National Authority with the support of Australia government and UNESCO to protect and preserve the natural and cultural heritage of the North Baray and give supplementary income to local people living in Phlong and Leang Dai villages.
However, due to the pandemic of COVID-19, this activity came to a halt. In February 2022, with the fund of GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) and the support of UNESCO, the APSARA National Authority initiated the rehabilitation of the Baray Reach Dak community boat tours, with the aim to improve the livelihoods of the community as well as enhance the experience of visitors coming to ANGKOR, the World Heritage site.
The BARAY REACH DAK COMMUNITY TOURS proposes trek, boat and biking tours around the North Baray. All aspects of the tour are run and managed by members of the community under the supervision of APSARA National Authority.

The 20 minutes boat tour starts and ends at the east dock of Preah Khan temple. It allows to have a panoramic view of North Baray, watch wild birds and aquatic plants and have an idea of the hydraulic system in ANGKOR.
The Sunset tour starts and ends at the east dock of Preah Khan temple. Before sunset, visitors will enjoy a boat ride on the vast expanse of water to observe local birds, aquatic plants and take photos of natural landscape of the surrounding forest of Neak Poan Island, as well as the beautiful sunset on the water of North Baray.
This itinerary has two options as following:
- Option 1: The tour starts walking from Preah Khan Information Center to the nursery and continues to viewpoint on the south dam of the Baray. From there, take a boat to visit Neak Poan temple and return to the east dock of Preah Khan temple.
